The 2024 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report from the US Department of State has been released. Here are some pivotal insights:🌍 The analysis this year covered 188 countries and territories. Delighted to share that #Poland has achieved Tier 1 status, reflecting efforts in combating #humantrafficking.🔍 The report underscores a concerning trend: some governments are part of the problem and are committing #THB. This echoes the concerns Ryszard Piotrowicz and I have been exploring in our recent studies.📈 Among the emerging global trends, the expansion of forced labour within online scam operations is alarming. These operations have spread from Southeast Asia to regions including South America, Europe, South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, impacting hundreds of thousands of victims across more than 60 countries.🚨 A significant trend in this year’s report is the coercive and deceptive recruitment of #combatants for the conflict in Ukraine. This involves Russian authorities and affiliated groups, who are reportedly engaging in illegal practices to recruit foreign nationals from various regions, including Central and South Asia, Cuba, and Syria.These findings not only highlight ongoing challenges but also emphasize the need for global cooperation to eradicate such exploitative practices. #HumanTrafficking #GlobalTrends #TIPReport2024

This is likely another horror story where insufficient - or altogether absent - immigrant vetting is being done, which is why there are “no comments” from the minister. The US and other allies are absolutely within their rights to question Canada’s defenses in more ways than one, and to increasingly pressure us to step up our game or risk it affecting our very close relationship relative to national security and information sharing, such as “the five eyes”, NORAD, and other highly sensitive matters. One has to wonder what exactly is going on with this government. Is this their attempt to pursue the “post national state” objective often cited by the PM as the future for Canada? If so, they need to be stopped before it’s too late and we’ve lost all credibility with allies and global partnerships, that took many, many decades to secure. After all, as has been proven many times though the years, National security and economic security/prosperity are very closed intertwined .

Kenya is among the top 5 African countries in terms of #remittance inflows. Although it was recently grey-listed, this status does not impose immediate sanctions. Instead, it indicates that Kenya is under increased scrutiny and must take corrective measures to strengthen its #AML/CFT frameworks.
