For all the parched comedy series-loving heart, here’s a refreshing splash of good news, Amy Poehler and Michael Schur are teaming up once again for a brand-new Peacock sitcom called Dig. Yes, the dynamic duo behind Parks and Recreation is back in action, and that alone is reason to celebrate.
But following up Parks and Rec is no easy task. Even Poehler admits it. She once admitted that nothing she does will likely ever compare to the magic of that show, and honestly, fans probably agree.
Still, with Schur’s sitcom genius and Poehler’s comedy chops, Dig has all the makings of a new fan favorite. Will it be another perfect addition to the sitcom hall of fame, only time will tell, but fans are definitely digging the idea already!
Amy Poehler and Mike Schur are Dig-ging up some serious fun for the fans!
Amy Poehler and Mike Schur, the powerhouse duo behind Parks and Recreation, are reuniting for a brand-new series called Dig, and it’s shaping up to be anything but ordinary.
As reported by Variety, the upcoming Peacock series is loosely based on the novel Excavations by Kate Myers and takes place at an archaeological site in Greece.

The story follows four women, each at a personal crossroads, who stumble upon a buried secret big enough to potentially rewrite history. Naturally, they’re soon caught in a high-stakes international conspiracy.
Poehler isn’t just starring in the series, she’s also co-writing the pilot alongside Schur and J.J. Philbin, known for Only Murders in the Building, Single Parents, and many more. All three will serve as executive producers, with Schur producing under his Fremulon banner.
While Dig is still in early stages, there’s already a buzz of excitement and a bit of nervous nostalgia. After all, Parks and Recreation set a pretty high bar. The show earned 14 Emmy nominations, a Peabody Award, and left a lasting legacy of waffle-loving optimism and unforgettable characters.
Still, with these fantastic minds behind the wheel and quite a unique storyline, Dig has all the ingredients for something fresh, smart, and delightfully unexpected.
Amy Poehler admits nothing can ever top Parks and Rec for her!
Goodbyes always stink, but for Parks and Recreation, it was a bit different. Amy Poehler has made it clear, no project she takes on will ever quite compare to Parks and Recreation.

And for good reason, it wasn’t just a TV show, it took people on a journey. She, thus, has never been shy about how much Parks and Recreation meant to her, but one thing she’s especially proud of is how the show ended. While sharing her experience with The Guardian, she explained,
It’s one of my proudest achievements that we wereable to end the show eloquently, on our own terms. It’s certainly ruined my experience in television for ever – because nothing will quite compare!
And that says a lot coming from someone with a stacked comedy resume. It’s rare in television to get the chance to craft a thoughtful ending, rather than being canceled abruptly or dragged on past its prime.
But with Parks and Rec, the creators knew when to step back and give the characters the send-off they deserved. Thus, the final season wasn’t just a wrap-up, it was a love letter to the fans and to the characters they’d grown with for seven seasons.
Each storyline was given equal care and closure. Flash-forwards with where everyone ended up gave the finale a bittersweet, hopeful tone without feeling overly neat or forced. Leslie and Ben each stepped into fulfilling careers, Ron found his quiet in the great outdoors, April and Andy embraced parenthood without losing their playful chaos, and Jerry (or Garry, or Larry) somehow became the luckiest man in Pawnee, again and again and again.
For the writers, it was the perfect goodbye. For the actors, it was the end of something they helped build from the ground up. And for fans, the finale delivered everything they could’ve asked for, and a full-circle moment that made the entire journey feel complete.
In the crowded world of sitcoms, Parks and Recreation managed to be the rare one that ended not when it had to, but when it should. And in doing so, it earned a legacy that, as Poehler herself admits, is pretty much impossible to top.
Parks and Recreation is available to stream on Peacock.
